There has been only one major problem with Offensive Coordinator Brian Schottenheimer’s use of the formation: It rarely works. For that matter, not much has worked between Schottenheimer and Smith during their three seasons together. With all of the gadgetry the team has used to get Smith the ball, he’s managed only a handful of large gains and spent the rest of the time turning the ball over or struggling to get back to the line of scrimmage.
