NFL Receivers: Top 10

1. Andre Johnson

A big, strong, and fast reciever.  He’s had at least 1,500 yards and eight touchdowns each of the last two years.  He is, right now, the best receiver in football.

2. Larry Fitzgerald

The best in the league in jump ball situations.  His production is down a little this year, but he is still up there with Johnson as one of the best.

3. Desean Jackson

The most explosive player in the NFL.  He is lightning fast and almost uncoverable.  Its just his second year and he is already one of the best.

4. Reggie Wayne

He has put up great numbers over the last few years.  A great reciever but Peyton Manning can make anyone look good.

5. Brandon Marshall

Denvers go-to guy.  He has some of the best hands in the league and when he gets the ball he runs like a mad man.

6. Santonio Holmes

He has posted good numbers since being drafted in 2006.  He looks to be developing into a very good number one reciever, and he made one of the greatest catches in superbowl history.

7. Wes Welker

He has had over 100 catches every year since joining the Patriots, and is clearly one of the best recievers in the NFL.

8. Randy Moss

One of the greatest recievers to ever play the game.  He’s not as good as he used to be but still close to the top.

9. Vincent Jackson

A huge reciever with good speed.  With over 1,000 yards the last two seasons, he has turned into a big play reciever.

10. Sidney Rice

This year was his breakout season.  A young reciever with lots of potential.  He could move his way up the list over the next couple of years

1. Re-sign: Leonard Weaver and Jason Avant.

2. Trade: Mcnabb, Reggie Brown, and Stacy Andrews to the Raiders for their first round pick.

Draft

1st pick (5th or 6th overall): Draft Eric Berry if he’s still available. If not, trade down and get Earl Thomas from Texas. The Eagles need a great safety to replace Dawk and we currently don’t have one.

2nd pick (32nd): Mike Iupati Guard from Idaho. He’s a beast and the missing piece to our offensive line. I don’t think Andy will leave the draft without this guy.

2nd round: We need an LDE. I say get someone like Jerry Hughes, Sergio Kindle, Brandon Graham, or Pierre Paul. Somebody like that, even if we have to trade some later round picks to move up a little bit.

3rd round pick from the Seahawks: Kyle Wilson, CB from Boise State. He’s just like Asante.

3rd round pick from the Jets: LB Eric Norwood, South Carolina. He would make a good SAM in our defense and would be what Gocong was supposed to be.

3rd round: Desmond Briscoe WR. We will need depth at receiver.

Do whatever with the rest of the picks.

If Sheldon Brown wants traded we will need to sign a veteran CB in Free Agency.

Philadelphia Eagles: Peters Vs Cole: A Great Training Camp Battle

Published: July 23, 2009

When training camp begins and the pads go on, there will be very few battles more exciting to watch than Cole versus Peters.

Trent Cole was selected in the fifth round of the 2005 NFL Draft.  Since taking over the right defensive end in week 10 of the 2005 season, Cole has been a beast.

In 2007, just his third season, Cole led the team with 12.5 sacks.  Just a year later he tallied nine sacks, while frequently fighting double teams.  In 2008 Cole was selected to the Pro-Bowl.

After the 2008 season, long time Eagles Tra Thomas signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars, leaving a big hole at left tackle.

To fill the void at left tackle, the Eagles traded for disgruntled pro-bowler Jason Peters.

During his time in Buffalo, Peters earned his was to two Pro-Bowls, and became recognized as one of the top LTs in the game.

Peters had an off year in 2008; his holdout could have had something to do with it.

Playing on a Super-Bowl caliber team and working with one of the best O-line coaches in the NFL gives Peters a great chance to establish himself as the best tackle in the NFL.

Lining up Peters and Cole should produce a fierce battle everyday in training camp, a battle that can only bring out the best in the two young players.

If the two Pro-Bowlers get any better, which they should, the rest of the league has every reason to fear this team.

Seattle Seahawks: The Team to Beat in the West

Published: June 24, 2009

In 2008, the Seattle Seahawks were hampered by injuries. During the season, over half of their starters on offense got hurt to go along with their best pass-rusher, Patrick Kerney. Injuries included the starting quarterback, Matt Hasselbeck, left tackle Walter Jones, and three starting receivers.

In 2008, the Seahawks finished third in the NFC West after owning the division for four strait seasons.

In 2009, Seattle will have a new head coach, Jim Mora.

Overall the Seahawks have had a pretty good offseason.

Along with the healthy veterans returning, Seattle has added more talent to the roster.  The team added a couple of the top players in the draft and also made a splash in free agency.

With the fourth overall pick in the draft, the Seahawks selected linebacker Aaron Curry.  Curry was rated the best overall player on many draft boards.

He is one of the best linebackers to come out of college in a long time. You place him next to Leroy Hill and Lofa Tatupu, you may have one of the best linebacking cores in the league.

In the second round, Seattle added center Max Unger. Unger was one of the top centers in the draft. He is a very smart player and a vocal leader along the offensive line.

The Seahawks made a trade with Detroit, receiving defensive tackle Cory Redding and a fifth round pick for Pro Bowl linebacker Julian Peterson. Peterson was a great player in Seattle but his talent won’t be missed due to the addition of Aaron Curry.

One of the biggest free agent signings of the offseason was the signing of wide receiver TJ Houshmanzadeh. Houshmanzadeh and a healthy Nate Burleson should provide excellent targets for Hasselbeck.

With two new defensive tackles, Cory Redding and Colin Cole, along with a healthy Patrick Kerney, the defensive line should be better in 2009.

With the healthy returning players and the offseason additions, the Seahawks have a complete team that should be ready to compete in ’09.

The Seahawks play in a weak division, which should make their path to the playoffs a little easier.

The St. Louis Rams are a mess right now and don’t look to provide much competition within the division.

The defending NFC and NFC West champs may suffer from a Super Bowl hangover as many teams do. Not to mention the departures of their offensive and defensive coordinators. The team will also be dealing with the Anquan Boldin distraction, which may turn into a problem.

The San Fransisco 49ers are a young and improving team. This could be the year they get over the hump and make it to the playoffs.

The Seattle Seahawks seem it be flying under the radar a bit, but as of now, they seem to be the team to beat in the West.

Don’t be surprised to see the Seahawks making the playoffs in 2009.
