A Vikings Fan: FIRST NFL Director of Fandemonium

Congratulations to Rainier “Onyx” Herrera! He is the first and new NFL director of Fandemonium, and a Minnesota Vikings fan from Hawaii!

Onyx will take home a $100,000 signing bonus and be given access to behind-the-scenes action, with access that was never granted before at several marquee NFL events during the 2009 season.

The first of his responsibilities were just this Saturday, when he announced a second-round pick at the 2009 NFL Draft for (you guessed it) the Minnesota Vikings, selecting Phil Loadholt, offensive tackle from the Oklahoma Sooners.

“Admittedly, we are a bit football deprived here in Hawaii, but that has never diminished my love for the sport of football,” said Herrera. “I seriously do have ‘Fandemonium fever’ that intense passion and drive for the game. Put simply, being selected the Director of Fandemonium is a dream job for meone I’ve been ‘training’ for since I was a kid.”

“Onyx is exactly what we were looking for in a Director of Fandemonium,” said Ted Gilvar, executive vice president and chief global marketing officer, Monster.com. “He’s really outgoing, regular guy who lives and breathes the NFL. We had 32 great candidates to choose from but Onyx clearly earned the role over the grueling two-day interview process.”

Behind-the-Scenes schedule for Onyx:

·        September 2009NFL Kickoff

o   Act as backstage talent wrangler at the 2009 NFL Kickoff concert.

·        October 2009International Series

o   Participate in on-field introductions at a game in London.

·        November 2009NFL Thanksgiving

o   Serve as an on-field broadcast liaison for NFL Network’s Thanksgiving Game

·        January 2010Pro Bowl

o   Select a play from the sidelines during the 2010 Pro Bowl

·        February 2010Super Bowl

o   Join the coin toss ceremony at Super Bowl XLIV

This is just another feather in the hat for the Minnesota Vikings this year!

Let’s keep this snowball of victory rolling into the 2009 season!

He signed with Minnesota late Sunday night, early Monday morning and is the son of former Chargers offensive lineman Ralph Perretta.

This guy may be little, but from my understanding he is nothing but a performer and a pure team player!

This seems exciting, as this weekend the Vikings will be hosting their three-day rookie training camp and we’ll find out Monday, who survived the chopping block.

Lastly, what I noticed was that all of these players were seniors and have established their four years of college football, which is crucial for success in the NFL. (I strongly believe)

After reviewing some of these stats from the players, I would have to admit that some of them standout and I can understand the reason for signing them!

Minnesota Vikings Can Solve Their Own Quarterback Problem!

Three words, John David Booty.  What?!  That’s what some Vikings fans are asking or maybe they have forgotten and are asking who?!

Don’t believe me?  Let’s take a look.

John David Booty was selected in the 2008 draft in Round Five—Pick 137.  He broke convention and stated on a national television live broadcast, more than a week before the draft that he hoped he would be selected by the Minnesota Vikings.  That is pure dedication!

But, his battle started immediately with Brooks Bollinger (that amazing trade with the New York Jets that Childress arranged) at the third spot on the depth chart.  Bollinger had four years of NFL experience and Booty made the team after a preseason battle!  This doesn’t say anything about Booty’s talent?

He has yet to take an official snap with the Vikings (during regular season), but let’s take a comparable look at his stats.

I am anxiously waiting for the day for John David Booty’s opportunity to take the helm of the Minnesota Vikings offense and we shall be surprised, as he is no Matt Leinhart statistically, but look at how he has worked out for the Cardinals.  Isn’t he still making more than Kurt Warner as the backup?  Exactly!
