Should Raiders Swap out of the First Round?

Please bear with me and remember that this is my opinion. Feel free to comment, but remember that we all have varying degrees of thought on who the Raiders should pick or what they should do with pick numero uno. The topic is: should the Raiders trade their pick? My feeling is no, and that’s dependent on several players being there when it’s their turn. I am really hoping that the Raiders pick Orakpo, but if not, then there are several players that I want to see in silver and black: Maualuga or Raji. Then there is the offensive side the team, which obviously needs to pick an OT at some point.
But what about the other side of the coin? What if they decide to trade the pick? With whom does this happen? Tampa needs a running back, the Giants a receiver, and Philly…where do we start? After letting good players get away, they do have a modus operandi and stuck to it, dumping older players. The Falcons and Saints could use receivers.
Any one of these teams could be potential suitors, but are afraid that the guy they want will be gone, leaving their fans wondering what could have been. Then do we take their spot or exchange it for extra picks in later rounds since the brain trust is short on picks this year? Say they trade the first pick and pick up an extra second round pick or third. No player is EVER guaranteed to be the next big thing, so is picking seventh really a good thing?
Look at the later options, say they can get Kenny Britt or Brandon Tate or Nicks Falls into our laps. Cable stated this week that he isn’t looking for big name players; that’s why they have left the big name free agents alone. He also went on to say, look at the players they brought in last year, the big names are gone, one didn’t last the season.
As much as I want to see one of the players on my wish list get drafted, they could end up just being college players. like so many before them. Don’t trade one of our guys for picks, just get a straight out swap. After you are done reading this, my intention is to get you thinking about ALL the possibilities, not just who could possibly be picked, but make you think (like after watching “JFK” and all the possible people who plotted to kill him, you start to think).
No, this isn’t that deep, but open your mind, and don’t be surprised if a swap happens. Where is the great mystery of who your team picks? The intrigue of gamesmanship is why we tune in year after year, unless you quit watching after the Raiders pick.
