For the last few weeks, people have been talking about the resurgence of the Green Bay Packers . I don’t doubt that they can get into the playoffs with one more victory, but how far can they really get?
The Packers haven’t won a road game against a winning team, since the 2007 season with Brett Favre behind center. This season is being concluded with a game at Arizona . This is a must win game for the Pack, in what could be a prequel to the Wild Card matchup.
If Green Bay doesn’t go into the playoffs with an 11-5 record, they will have no confidence that they can win a game on the road in the playoffs. Confidence at this time of the year, is just as important as being on a roll.
Can you imagine what would happen if Green Bay had to go into Philadelphia in January, with no quality road victories in over two years? Chances are that the contest would be as bad as the earlier trouncing against the Vikings , in Minnesota. I know you haven’t forgotten about that game, thanks to Favre.
The Packers have two more games to get back on a roll. Next week is at home against the Seahawks . Then that extremely important finale in Arizona, against the Cardinals. Without a win against the Cards, the Packers won’t be winning anything in the playoffs.
