Detroit Lions: QB: Mathew Stafford [Georgia]
The Detroit Lions need a new face for their franchise and although I don’t like Matt Stafford at this pick, he looks like he will be heading to Motown. Although Stafford would benefit from learning behind a veteran and spending time on the bench, Stafford will immediately be the No. 1 QB. Hopefully the Lions can address other needs in the draft to keep Stafford on his feet and allowing him time in the pocket to throw to his new best friend, Calvin Johnson.

St Louis Rams: LT: Jason Smith [Baylor]
I really see Aaron Curry going here, but that is a lot of money for a LB that is not a premier pass rusher, and new coach Spagnuolo likes his defenses strong. But the Rams are in a serious rebuilding process, and the best way to do it is with the best offensive lineman in the draft. Jason Smith will bring an identity to the Rams offensive line and will be an excellent replacement for the departed Orlando Pace.

Kansas City Chiefs: LT: Eugene Monroe [Virginia]
The new regime in Kansas City starts with protecting their new treasured quarterback Matt Cassel. Adding Monroe to the offensive line brings back a lost identity that the Chiefs had in the trenches. Monroe lining up on the left and current tackle Brandon Albert on the right side will re-create the strong chemistry. The two share at Virgina and will give the Chiefs solid book ends for years to come.

Seattle Seahawks: OLB: Aaron Curry [Wake Forest]
The Seahawks have been back and forth with this pick and have been licking their chops to select Aaron Curry. No, not Mark Sanchez. Michael Crabtree would make some sense, since the Seahawks had major injuries in that position last season, the lost of Bobby Engram, and the lack of a true “play making” receiver makes the Seahawks interested in Crabtree even more.
An heir apparent to Hasselbeck makes sense, but giving $60-plus million guaranteed to a player who will be reading a clipboard for two years doesn’t make economic sense. Adding to the fact that Mora Jr. is the new, defensive-minded head coach, and the Seahawks would like to establish their identity on the defensive side of the ball. Curry makes the most sense lining up alongside Tatupu and Hill to give the Seahawks one of the strongest line backing cores in the league.

Cleveland Browns: WR: Michael Crabtree [TexasTech]
With Kellen Winslow gone, the speculation is that Braylon Edwards will be traded. Donte Stallworth’s off-field legal troubles makes Crabtree a no brainier selection for the Browns. With Quinn [no, not Anderson] running the show, he needs an obvious playmaker and Crabtree will fill that void. Crabtree will have an immediate impact and will create a nice one-two punch of Quinn throwing deep to Crabtree.
