Any Trent Edwards fans around here?
The Bills added Terrell Owens via free agency. Marshawn Lynch is back in the fold, though he is dealing with off-the-field issues. Fred Jackson is a decent fill-in for any time Lynch misses. The front office brought in Shawn Nelson, the first legitimate pass-catching tight end in Buffalo in quite some time. And—oh yeah—Lee Evans still is in the fold.
It certainly is not the worst cast of characters for a maturing quarterback who passes the eye test.
But is it enough to put Edwards over the top in terms of fantasy? Not saying he is going to be a reliable No. 1 guy, but this could be his year to stick on rosters as a decent QB2.

Watch Wimbledon or the AT&T National this weekend?
If not, you missed quite the show on each tournament’s final day.
Two of the greatest all-time at their sport—Roger Federer and Tiger Woods—walked away victorious yesterday. Federer took down American Andy Roddick in five grueling, intense sets while Woods cruised to victory in the tournament he hosts.
With the win—Federer’s sixth at Wimbledon—Federer moved past Pete Sampras for most Grand Slam titles all time. His 15th did not come easily, however, as Roddick gave the No. 1 player in the world a battle in what became the longest men’s Grand Slam final in history.
Later in the afternoon, Woods finished a strong weekend on his part by claiming a one-stroke victory over Hunter Mahan. Although the two men did not battle head-to-head down the stretch it took Tiger 16 holes to defeat Mahan, who shot a tournament record 62 on Sunday.
All in all, it was good Sunday TV. NFL injury updates after the jump.
LaDainian Tomlinson [RB, Chargers]
From RotoProfessor:
His ypc wasn’t great at 3.8, but he was dealing with a toe injury. That injury has healed though, and according to an AP report he is “kind of making sure my body’s in great shape, and making sure I’m as strong as possible. I haven’t missed any time, worked out every single day. … I haven’t had a setback at all.”
For all of the negativity and pessimism that surrounded Tomlinson last season, he still had one heck of a season. As far as down years go, his was pretty bearable for fantasy owners.
Of course, Tomlinson’s fantasy owners have been spoiled handsomely in the past. If he truly is back to 100 percent health, which it sounds like he is, Tomlinson could have another elite fantasy football season or two left in that talented body.
Percy Harvin [WR, Vikings]
From The Big Lead:
The Florida Gators star, who tumbled a bit in the draft after being linked to drugs (just marijuana), has fallen ill again. This time after arriving at the NFL Rookie Symposium. He was sent home.
While Harvin has avoided some of the more typical injuries that rookies face — hamstring strain, for example—he continues to get ill. Not sure what this is all about or if it should be a concern for fantasy owners. Harvin’s health certainly bears monitoring this summer, but unless he misses significant practice this should be of little concern.
The MMR will continue to run every Monday morning as scheduled during the offseason. If you have an injury update or want an update on a certain player, please leave a note in the comments.

A great holiday weekend was soured for NFL fans upon the news that former Titans and Ravens quarterback Steve McNair had died. Chances are most of you have heard the news by now, so I will do my best to avoid sounding redundant.
As of last night, Nashville police have officially deemed the death a homicide and the investigation is ongoing.
The circumstances of McNair’s death remain cloudy at best. Regardless, the loss of McNair sent shockwaves through the NFL community from his former coaches and teammates to fans of the late quarterback. McNair was as tough as they come on the football field, playing through multiple injuries over the course of his career.
Though he was taken far, far too soon, McNair’s body now shall rest in peace. He was 36-years old.
There has been an outpouring of reaction regarding the news of McNair’s death from around the Internet. Here are a few of the highlights:

Over the course of the last few weeks, eager fantasy football players have been submitting their finest fantasy football team names to date for the upcoming season.
There are some contenders. It’s not a bad start to the team-naming season, which runs until the kickoff of the 2009 NFL regular season in early September. There’s plenty of time to pick the right name for your most scrutinized team of all, the uber-competitive friends and family league.
That makes now a good time to float out some ideas. Below are the best fantasy football team names submitted for June. Another contest will run for July, and yet another for August.
At the start of September, the three best fantasy football team names will compete not only for bragging rights, but also for prizes. There is a T-shirt deal potentially in the works with Art of the Fan. Mock Draft Central has a premium membership to give away. There may even be something from us—who knows?
There is your motivation. Get crackin’ on those team names for July’s challenge, which will be posted in the coming weeks. Stay tuned.
Vote after the jump. Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post’s poll.

Big night tonight.
About once a month, a bunch of guys from work get together to play video games and drink. It has turned into an all-out tournament filled with friendly wagers, trash talk, and two pretty significant titles. The two featured games: Tecmo Super Bowl for the original Nintendo and FIFA 09 for PlayStation 3.
So far, there have been two FIFA tournaments dominated by one guy. He owns the game and was a soccer player in college, plus he is a pretty big soccer nut (his name is Vince, by the way, of the Vinny’s Old School Songs of the Day on The Hazean’s Facebook page).
I have done well in the FIFA tournament (made the Finals both tournaments), but I live and breathe for the Tecmo tournament.
So far I have won four of the six Tecmo tournaments. The crowns came courtesy of the Houston Oilers (twice), Cincinnati Bengals, and Indianapolis Colts. Tonight I go for title No. 5 and three-in-a-row. Wish me luck and enjoy your weekend.

There currently are six mock drafts from sites respected around the Web listed in The Hazean’s mock draft database, with updates from as recent as last week.
A few more are on the way too. I keep trolling for sites around the Web posting fantasy mock drafts, but the best way to get a mock listed in the database is to email it directly to me.
Even if you do not publish your own fantasy mock drafts, you can help! Send the link to your favorite fantasy mock draft site(s) with their most recent mock and I will be sure to get it in the database. Pretty simple, huh?

Living near Cleveland, you can imagine what the collective feeling is around here. Disappointment, frustration, emptiness. Another year between championships for one of the better sports’ cities in America.
So much for all of those great Kobe-LeBron puppet commercials. Maybe they can make a few with Dwight Howard.
Lakers and Magic start this week. So who ya got? I am taking the Lakers in six. The three-point shooting of the Magic will keep the games close—if they are making shots—but the Lakers are more talented across the board. And they have the best closer in the NBA in Bryant.
Any Magic supporters out there?

Big summer kickoff weekend ahead for all Americans. Any great plans out there?
Not an overwhelming weekend on my part. Going to an outdoor concert after work today. Heading down to Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday to watch a friend of mine play in the college ultimate Frisbee national championships. Staying in Columbus Saturday night for some fun, then back home for Sunday and Monday.
Not that you guys really care about that. The stuff that you came here for is below. Have a great weekend!

Get ready Minnesota: Brett Favre-mania is about to begin in earnest!
According to the latest, the flip-flopping quarterback is meeting with Dr. James Andrews to discuss surgery on his bum arm/shoulder. This, presumably, is in an effort to return to the football field for the Vikings this season.
Think about it. Favre is a guy who avoided surgery at all costs during the course of his career. If he did not intend to play football again, there is no doubt in my mind that he would never have surgery to fix that arm because he hates going under the knife.
So the very fact that he intends to do just that means, to me at least, that he will return to play football this season.
Get ready.
*UPDATE* Got a text alert late last night from ESPN reporting that Favre will not meet with Andrews today. Ed Werder reported that, instead, Favre will purse non-surgical options. The saga continues.
