Kansas City Chiefs: Trade Tony Gonzalez For a Second Round Draft Pick

So, Tony Gonzalez doesn’t want to be a Chief. OK. We will all hate to see him go but, if he doesn’t want to be here, and doesn’t want to go in the same direction. then fine.

You can all hate me for saying this but that’s fine too. Make a trade. We need a second round pick.

I have heard that Atlanta is thinking of making a trade offer but that only puts Kansas City at 55. If you read my other article, you know I am a huge fan of Connor Barwin, who will be a huge asset to whatever team gets him (most mock drafts predict he will go anywhere between 31 and 47 to either the Packers or the Patriots.)

If we need a TE, him or Sean Nelson would be great picks. Again, I realize they are no Tony Gonzalez and the Chiefs also signed TE Sean Ryan today who could be good but, still no Gonzalez.

Let’s think about this though. He doesn’t want to be in KC, he is 33-years-old, and for the last couple of seasons has based his playing on a year-to-year basis.

So what, he could have a great year again this year and next year decide he is done or again doesn’t want to be a Chief?

At some point in time we will have to find a replacement. He can’t play forever. We all wish he could, but it is not going to happen.

So, why not get the best deal we can for him and move on?
