NFL legends such as Lawrence Taylor, Sam Huff, and Michael Strahan have all suited up for the Giants and were standout players on their respective defenses.
If you follow the theme of those players, they all play either linebacker or defensive line. The Giants have never seemed to have that standout and super starplayer in the defensive backfield.
The two defensive backs that come to mind when you think about New York's good secondary players are Everson Walls and Jason Seahorn, and they are never mentioned in the category of the game's elite.
Entering the Giants' 2009 season, that theme might change.
New York is loaded and filled with plenty of depth in the secondary. Future stars such as free safety Kenny Phillips and cornerback Corey Webster will lead this overachieving and overlooked group.
